Pay Attention

When faced with trauma, the tendency towards negativity can be overwhelming.

Training your brain to pay attention to the positive can help alleviate your suffering.

For instance, pay attention to:

  • Your Feelings

  • Your words, deeds, and actions which serve you

  • The words, deeds, and actions of others who inspire you

  • What you will / will not tolerate in others

  • What brings you peace at any given time

  • Skills to cope when traumatized

  • Goings on in the world or in your community to find support and/or validation

  • Self Care

  • The past and what learnings it provides

  • The little things that bring you joy

  • Your vision for the future

  • Your desired legacy

  • Etc …

Remember that other people around you may not pay attention to the positive. We never know what other people are going through in their lives.

In that case, stay attentive to what you need. Perhaps your positivity will wear off on them.
