Resilience

There is no greater feeling than waking up every day knowing you can do “this” — whatever “this” is.

For me? “This” is two- pronged.

  1. Stand up for my son and families like ours whose rights to live without interference are being violated.

  2. Make sure the parties who violate such rights and often do so for profit, stop breaking law.

The resistance I have faced and continue to face by the father of my children is challenging don’t get me wrong.

However, I have countered such challenges through my resilience. My son deserves no less.

Like trusting your gut, resilience comes in handy when resistance shows up in so many ways. For me, the father of my children has recruited his attorney colleagues to join him in trying to “break”me through:

  • Defamation and character assassinations

  • Financial exploitation

  • Collusion and Coercion

  • Bullying and intimidation

  • Gaslighting

  • Made up conflict (for me in both the court and real life)

Never fear, resilience is here. Remind yourself that backing down is not an option. I found that holding the outsiders to account by stating the facts is most helpful. Though it’s been 8 years since the father of my children has interfered in our lives, this experience taught me I have resilience.

Resilience is within you too. You just need to decide that you have no other choice but to bring it to bear.
