Self Sufficiency
I found a silver lining over my 8 years and counting of physical and emotional isolation from everyone important to me: Self-sufficiency.
Whether isolated by the former and/or the latter, it is possible that you too can be self-sufficient.
Below are the ways I became my best cheerleader. My learnings that may be of help include to:
Create a virtual bubble around you to keep your peace,
Acknowledge your circumstances are temporary,
Acknowledge you get to choose how you react,
Live in the moment, focus on the future,
Accept the fact no one is going to save you,
Engage in self-talk that “you can do this”,
Find others who will say the same,
Trust the choices you make to take care of yourself without worrying what others think or say about you,
Avoid being self effacing, negative, defeated, or minimizing of your experience,
Ask and re-ask for what you need with assertiveness and clarity,
Accept the facts no matter what,
Know you are a survivor not a victim,
Be positive!
There are many more ways to achieve self-sufficiency. You just need to be proactive and determine what they are.
Good luck!
